‘Parks and Rec’: Show’s cast reuniting to raise money for Wisconsin Democrats

The cast of “Parks and Recreation” is reuniting once again.

After a special reunion episode in April that raised money for Feeding America, several of the show’s cast members are returning for a virtual town hall event that will raise money for the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, according to Variety.

Amy Poelher, Adam Scott, Nick Offerman, Aubrey Plaza, Retta, Jim O’Heir and the show’s co-creator, Michael Schur, will participate in the event, as well as some “surprise guests,” Variety reported.

The event will be live-streamed on Sept. 17, and will also include an “exclusive Q&A,” according to the event’s website.

A donation of $27 is suggested, but the town hall event will be open to anyone who donates at least $1 to Wisconsin’s Democratic Party, according to Fox News.

“Anything you donate will be used to ensure that Trump loses Wisconsin, and thereby the White House,” reads the event’s website.

The “Parks and Rec” cast are not the only ones who have reunited recently on behalf of Wisconsin Democrats. The cast of the classic film “The Princess Bride” — including Cary Elwes, Robin Wright, Mandy Patinkin, Billy Crystal and Christopher Guest — held a fundraising virtual script reading on Sunday night, according to USA Today.

The “Princess Bride” reunion appears to have been a success — over 110,000 people donated so that they could participate in the event, USA Today reported.

“Tonight’s once-in-a-lifetime ‘Princess Bride’ reunion changes the odds on who wins Wisconsin,” said Ben Wikler, chair of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, according to USA Today. “This is by a mile the biggest grassroots fundraiser that we have ever had.”

It remains to be seen whether the “Parks and Rec” reunion will also succeed. However, the show’s reunion in April had 3.7 million viewers on the night it aired on NBC, and raised nearly $3 million for Feeding America’s COVID-19 Response Fund, according to Variety.
